2020 Africa Early Investor Summit — Day 1 Recap
Tuesday, November 3 kicked off day 1 of the two-day 2020 Africa Early Investor Summit, co-hosted by the African Business Angels Network (ABAN) and VC4A, which brought together hundreds of investors from across the African continent and the rest of the world to discuss the investment landscape of Africa. The event was open only to self-identified investors who registered with VC4A in advance (though it may still be possible to register for Day 2 here). Paystack’s Acquisition is Only Part of the Story: Lessons Learned from Gozem and Pick n Pay
Just days after the Stripe/Paystack announcement, west African “super-app” Gozem announced its acquisition of Togo-based delivery app Delivroum. Later that same day, southern Africa grocery store chain Pick n Pay announced its acquisition of Bottles, South Africa’s first dedicated alcohol delivery service. The two deals are both Africa-Africa acquisitions, each one representing different aspects of the African startup ecosystem and the successes available outside of the continent’s major players.
Six Africa-Focused Startup Podcasts
For those who are specifically interested in the startup ecosystem in Africa, there are a myriad of podcasts now available. Each one offers a different take on some of the major developments on the continent, while also providing a stark variety of content. In other words, you can consistently listen to new episodes of each of these podcasts without hearing repetitive analyses.
